CRO Specialist

CROShopifyAI

We’re a small team building at the edge of where AI meets eCommerce. CRO is one of our biggest leverage points and we’re investing heavily in it. This role is for someone who has been doing CRO seriously for years and now wants to use AI to go ten steps further than they could on their own. It’s also one of the best places in Quebec to deepen your AI skills on the job: we encourage it, we give you the time to learn, and we cover the unlimited tokens to actually go deep.

Quick Apply

The Role

The CRO Specialist’s mandate is simple: direct, measurable impact on conversion rate and/or AOV for our clients. You’ll own the conversion side of our clients’ Shopify stores end-to-end: building the CRO roadmap, generating hypotheses, watching session recordings, analyzing data, designing experiments, and bringing back insights that move revenue.

You’ll work tightly with our Product Owner. Most of our testing runs through Intelligems. Simple test variants you’ll eventually ship yourself using our Shopify coding agents (we’ll train you on this part). More architectural changes you’ll hand to the PO and dev team.

This isn’t a “set up a few A/B tests per quarter” role. The bet we’re making is that AI changes what’s possible in CRO. Not by making the work faster, but by making it deeper. AI lets you see things in session recordings you’d otherwise miss, reach hypothesis paths you wouldn’t get to on your own, interrogate your data harder, and compound what one specialist can deliver. We expect the person in this role to lean fully into that and run a CRO program with a depth most agencies can’t match.

What a typical week looks like: reviewing Shopify analytics and heatmap data across three to four client stores. Watching 20 to 40 minutes of session recordings and looking for friction patterns. Generating 5 to 10 new test hypotheses with clear expected impact and effort estimates. Updating each client’s CRO roadmap and prioritizing the next 2 weeks. Writing test briefs (hypothesis, wireframes, success metrics, segment, expected lift). Setting up tests in Intelligems. Shipping simple variants yourself via our Shopify coding agent. Briefing the Product Owner on more complex architectural tests. Pulling results, calling winners and losers, writing a one-page recap with the next test queued up. On a client call, walking through the test pipeline and the next quarter’s plan.

Reality Check

Lake House has tripled in size over 3 years and is aiming to do it again. We’ve built proprietary AI tools that change how eCommerce work gets done. CRO is one of the biggest leverage points in that bet: AI lets a great CRO specialist see further, analyze deeper, and run experiments more carefully than was possible 18 months ago, and we want to deliver that to every client we have.

The CRO Specialist isn’t joining a fully built CRO function. There’s a real foundation (data instinct, eCommerce expertise, a Product Owner ready to ship), but the testing engine, the recording review cadence, the way hypotheses get generated and prioritized: all of that gets built with this hire. When something doesn’t work well, the expectation is to call it out and help fix it, not just work around it.

If you want to define the next generation of AI-powered CRO with a team that has the data and the tools to back you up, this could be the right fit.

This is a builder role. The CRO Specialist will shape how CRO works at LHG, not just execute existing playbooks.

Non-Negotiables

  • Genuine passion for eCommerce. You live and breathe DTC. You can name five Shopify stores you think do CRO well and tell us why. You’ve probably bought from 30+ DTC brands this year, and you pay attention to how their site, checkout, and post-purchase feel. eCommerce isn’t a job for you, it’s a space you’d be paying attention to anyway.
  • Deep AI fluency. This is the most important non-negotiable. You already use Claude or ChatGPT every day to do deeper, sharper work, not just to go faster. You see AI as the way to go ten steps further into a problem than you could on your own: more hypotheses, sharper analysis of session recordings, better data interpretation. You’re already building (or eager to build) your own Claude skills, custom GPTs, or lightweight agents that compound your output. You don’t need to be comfortable with AI coding agents on day one. We’ll teach you that.
  • 5+ years running CRO programs for eCommerce brands. You’ve owned a roadmap, picked your battles, and have a real track record of tests that moved conversion rate or AOV. You’re not learning CRO on the job.
  • Eagle-eye on data. You can pull a story out of Shopify analytics, your testing platform’s results data, and heatmap or session replay tools (Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity, FullStory) without a senior analyst holding your hand.
  • UX intuition. You don’t need to be a designer, but you have strong opinions about how good Shopify stores should feel, you’ve spent serious time in user research and session replay, and your wireframes communicate intent clearly.
  • Hypothesis-first thinker. You start with a problem, not a tactic. You don’t propose tests because you saw them on Twitter. You propose them because the data and the recordings point that way.
  • Comfortable in Shopify. Operational work plus light theme edits (theme editor, basic Liquid, app installs and configuration) so you understand the surface area you’re testing on.
  • Hands-on mentality. You watch the recordings yourself. You write the briefs yourself. You’re not above the work.

Nice to Have

  • Direct experience with Intelligems (this is what we run most tests on).
  • Experience with other CRO platforms (Convert, AB Tasty, VWO, Optimizely).
  • Experience with PostHog, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or comparable product analytics.
  • Figma fluency (wireframing minimum, light visual design a plus).
  • Liquid Shopify beyond the basics.
  • Experience building or shipping AI agents, Claude skills, or custom GPTs in your CRO workflow.
  • Previous agency experience juggling multiple clients.
  • French is a plus (most of our clients are French-speaking Quebec brands), but not required.

What’s Hard About This

  • Multiple clients, multiple roadmaps in parallel. You’ll own CRO programs for several brands at once. Context switching between verticals and store stages is real.
  • The hypothesis bar stays high. AI helps you go deeper, but a deep test on a weak hypothesis still teaches very little. The bar on hypothesis quality stays the same as it always was, even when the volume of analysis goes up.
  • Building while delivering. We’re simultaneously running great CRO for clients AND building the AI-powered CRO engine that will define how LHG operates. Both matter.
  • Continuous learning. AI tooling for CRO is evolving every month. The playbook from 6 months ago is already partly obsolete. Comfort with constant change is the job.

What Makes Someone Succeed Here

You bring ideas, you don’t wait to be told what to test. You’re rigorous about the difference between “I think this will work” and “the data says this will work.” You catch what others miss in recordings. You can shift between the strategic (where should this brand’s CRO program go in 12 months) and the tactical (writing the next variant of a hero block this afternoon). You see AI as the unlock that makes you ten times more useful, not as a tool to be afraid of.

What You’ll Learn & Grow Into

Deep CRO mastery across multiple Shopify verticals. Real fluency with AI in production: using our Shopify coding agent to ship test variants yourself, building your own Claude skills and custom GPTs, integrating AI deeply into your daily workflow. How to run a CRO program at a depth most agencies can’t match. Over time, the path is to grow into a Strategist role within the agency, owning CRO across the portfolio.

You’ll have time and unlimited AI tokens to actually push your skills. We don’t pay lip service to AI. We give our team the resources and the calendar room to learn it for real. If that sentence excites you, you’re probably right for this role.

What We Offer

  • Remote work.
  • Competitive salary.
  • Wellness and cell phone allocation.
  • Real time and unlimited tokens to deepen your AI skills. We invest in your AI fluency the way other agencies invest in conferences.
  • Room to grow. Small team means real impact.
  • Learning environment. We’re obsessed with getting better.
  • Autonomy.
