The Role

The Product Owner will manage technical Shopify delivery for clients: supporting relationships, translating business needs into a clear roadmap, coordinating the development team, maintaining documentation, conducting QA, and helping shape the features we build.

This role requires strong ecommerce and project management experience. Shopify expertise is a bonus, not a requirement — you’ll learn the ecosystem through hands-on work and mentorship from the team.

A typical week might include joining a client call about fulfillment workflow issues and working with our senior team to scope the right solution. You’ll manage development assignments and track progress across several client implementations, conduct QA on a checkout customization, document test cases, update client documentation, raise issues that are blocking progress, and identify where a manual process could be automated.

Reality Check

Lake House has tripled in size over 3 years and is aiming to do it again. We’re a small team building something different: we embed long-term with clients as their ongoing Shopify and AI Commerce partner, not as a typical agency delivering one-off projects.

You’re joining the construction site, not a finished product. Some processes are established; others are still being built. When something doesn’t work, the expectation is to surface it, propose a better way, and help make the fix stick.

This is a hands-on role. You’ll manage client relationships and roadmaps, but you’ll also review the work, test the details, and make sure what ships actually solves the problem.

Non-Negotiables

  • Bilingual French/English. You’ll lead client meetings and communicate with clients and teammates in both languages.
  • Strong ecommerce and project management experience. You can turn a messy request into a clear scope, priorities, owners, and next steps.
  • Client presence. You ask sharp questions, set expectations clearly, and can push back constructively when the proposed solution is not the right one.
  • Exceptional organization. You can keep multiple client roadmaps moving without losing the details, decisions, or follow-ups.
  • Quality ownership. You test before delivery, catch inconsistencies, and care about the full client experience — not just whether a ticket is technically complete.
  • Hands-on mentality. You write the brief, update the documentation, run the QA, and help unblock the team yourself.
  • Comfort with change. Our tools, services, and ways of working are evolving quickly, especially as AI changes how ecommerce work gets done.

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on Shopify experience across products, collections, themes, apps, Shopify Flow, markets, or B2B.
  • Experience working with developers and writing clear technical or functional requirements.
  • Agency or consulting experience managing several client relationships in parallel.
  • Experience with ecommerce operations such as fulfillment, inventory, retail, B2B, or international expansion.
  • Practical curiosity about AI tools and how they can improve client delivery and internal workflows.

What Makes Someone Succeed Here

You bring structure without creating bureaucracy. You listen carefully, identify the real problem, and reduce ambiguity for both the client and the delivery team. You communicate early when priorities conflict or a project is drifting. You can move from a strategic roadmap discussion to detailed QA without treating either as beneath you. Most importantly, you take ownership of the outcome: the goal is not to move tickets, but to ship meaningful improvements that work.

What You’ll Learn & Grow Into

You’ll deepen your Shopify expertise across complex catalogs, operational workflows, B2B, retail, and international commerce. You’ll learn how to manage technical delivery at scale, build trusted long-term client relationships, and use AI to improve how ecommerce work is scoped, coordinated, and delivered.
